A Greek word written on Lindsey Vonn’s glove has left journalists and fans scratching their heads at the PyeongChang Olympic Games.
The word πιστεύω, meaning ‘I believe’, caught the eye.
It mirrors a tattoo she has on the inside of a finger.
“Signifying my last Olympics [in 2018] and just need to believe in myself,” Vonn to NBC’s Nick Zaccardi.
Vonn’s final Olympic race ended in disappointment at Thursday’s combined event. After finishing first in the downhill, Vonn went off course in the slalom.
The U.S. champion won gold in the downhill at the 2010 Winter Olympics, the first ever in the event for an American woman. She has also won four World Cup overall championships.
