Giannis Antetokounmpo Joins Kareem Abdul-Jabbar in Scoring 100 Points in First 3 Games of the Season

Giannis Antetokounmpo and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar are the only players in NBA history with 100 points in the team’s first three games of a season, after the Greek Freak scored 44 points against Portland on Saturday.

According to the Elias Sports Bureau, Giannis and Kareem are the only players carrying this record so far. But for Antetokounmpo it wasn’t only that: the 44 points he scored were his own career high.

The Milwaukee Bucks game against the Portland Trail Blazers (113-110) was all Giannis: in addition to the 44 points, he had the game-winning dunk in the closing seconds, eight boards, four dimes, two steals, one block, one trey and two turnovers.

Just three games in and it already feels like this will be an extraordinary season for Antetokounmpo. He is averaging 38.3 points per game and currently leads the league in total points and steals.

Also, his 44 points were the most by a Buck since Brandon Jennings’ 55 in 2009.
