Kelly Vlahakis-Hanks Receives Athens/Livanos Award, Employs Ancient Hellenic Values in Modern Times

kelly athens awardLast week at the 32nd Cyprus and Hellenic Leadership Conference (PSEKA Conference), Kelly Vlahakis-Hanks and her father Van Vlahakis (posthumously) were honorees and received the Athens/Livanos Award.

Inspired by its namesakes, George P. Livanos and Andrew A. Athens, the award symbolizes the connection between individuals who employ ancient Hellenic values in modern times to achieve their goals while respecting and improving their communities and society as a whole.

Mrs. Vlahakis-Hanks, CEO of Earth Friendly Products, is a model for green business practices. Her company has won several awards for its commitment to making environmentally friendly cleaning products made with plant-based ingredients, including the U.S. EPA’s coveted Safer Choice Partner of the Year award.

Under her lead, Earth Friendly Products has developed and maintained exceptional products, facilities and employment practices and Mrs. Vlahakis-Hanks has previously received recognition for her outstanding leadership as an important and influential voice in corporate and social responsibility.

The award consists of an ancient Greek coin below which is inscribed, “This Greek coin, like Hellenic ideals, though ancient, is of rare and enduring value in the modern world.”

Mrs. Vlahakis-Hanks joins the ranks of previous nominees for this prestigious award such as Former Gov. & Presidential Nominee, Michael Dukakis; former US Ambassador to Hungary, Eleni Tsakopoulos Kounalakis; Senior Advisor to President Obama, John Pedestal as well as other esteemed leaders in the USA.
