Pack the Perfect Care Package With Snacks You Can’t find in Greece!

Sure, you can find tons of snack foods in Greece, however, no one does snacks like the USA! Send you friends and family members a little treat in your next package. There are a ton of goodies that you just can’t find in Greece. Here are some of the classics that are sure to make an expat smile.

Anything from Little Debbie will be greatly appreciated! Whether you put in a box of Oatmeal Cream Pies or Nutty Bars these are good old-fashioned comfort treats that take you back to coming home from school and having a Little Debbie waiting for you with a tall glass of cold milk. You can’t find anything like Little Debbie’s snacks in Greece, so send them along in your next care package!

Speaking of things you can’t find in Greece, you won’t even get close to finding the delicious, “melts in your mouth, not in your hands” chocolate goodness of M&M’s. There are impostures, but you won’t be fooled. Send them along in celebration of holidays when they have special colors. Halloween is a good time since the holiday doesn’t exist in Greece and will bring a little chocolate and nostalgia to an expat. Yum!

Licorice is not very popular in Greece, and even if you find it, it’s just not that great. Greeks just haven’t mastered licorice like Twizzlers, which is probably why most of them don’t like it. Send as much as you can fit into the box, as long as it is in a zip-locked baggies it will stay fresh forever. Black licorice, red licorice, multicolored licorice; you can’t go wrong with this treat.

Hershey’s brand does not sell its goodies in Greece, thus the reason you can’t find Twizzlers. Since the line of Hershey’s products is filled with so many classics, why not include some Reese’s Pieces or Kisses in your next package too? Even ET loved Reese’s Pieces! Or maybe pack that box up with some Hershey’s Chocolate Bars with Almonds, Krackel bars, Mr. Goodbars and for Easter a Hershey’s chocolate bunny.

Of course you can find chips in Greece, but you can’t find Bugles, Funyuns, Fritos or Cool Ranch Doritos. Come on, you remember how fun it is to eat these crunchy snacks, dressing up your fingertips with Bugles! Really, you cannot find snack chips that even come close to these classics in Greece. So surprise your loved one with these crunchy delights.

Needless to say, anything from Pepperidge Farm is a sure winner! A box of Goldfish or any type of cookie or crackers are great comfort food snacks that any expat will surely appreciate. And let’s face it, nothing beats a box of cheesy Goldfish. They even have Mac & Cheese with little smiley Goldfish! Yet another snack that you can’t find in Greece.

Please don’t forget the quintessential snack of all time, Twinkies. Yes, they came back from the brink of elimination! The classic “golden sponge cake with creamy filling” was formerly made by Hostess Brands, and is currently owned by private equity firms. You can find Twinkies all over the world from Egypt, Mexico to the UK, but not in Greece. Let’s remember the power of this little pre-packaged cream-filled cake log, after all, during bankruptcy proceeding, Twinkie production was suspended on November 21, 2012 causing a panic and public outcry that the snack was being canceled. Of course American store shelves were soon stocked with Twinkies once again as it became available nationwide on July 15, 2013. So, no excuses, send the Twinkies, please!
