The Last Kerchief Maker of Cyprus

Continuing its non-profit mission of presenting unique folk arts programs highlighting different aspects of the rich cultural inheritance and history of Cyprus, CYPRECO Of America, Inc., is hosting on Friday, May 27, at 8pm, a new unique program with free admission dedicated to “The Last Kerchief Maker of Cyprus.”

The event will feature an original mini-documentary with English subtitles that examines in depth the traditional craft of kerchief making, which was once a thriving industry in Cyprus, and also highlights the last remaining kerchief maker on the island. Special remarks will be offered by the Consul General of Cyprus in New York, Ambassador Vasilis Philippou, who is the Guest Speaker.

CYPRECO’s new folk arts program is under the auspices of the Federation of Hellenic Societies of Greater New York and will take place at the Stathakion Cultural Center, 22-51 29 th Street in Astoria, New York.
