The fifth Annual Concordia Summit convened some of the world’s preeminent thought leaders and decision makers to address today’s most pressing, global challenges and highlighted the potential for effective collaboration between businesses, governments, and nonprofits.

It was the 5th year that Concordia organized its annual summit, the most important forum to foster public-private relationships and address global problems, on October 1st and 2nd in New York City.

The event that ran in parallel with the UN General Assembly, brought together hundreds of world leaders from the business and public sector to address problems such as human trafficking, youth unemployment, global food security, and more.

Among the world dignitaries, eminent political figures, and renowned business executives that participated in the Concordia Summit were: Akhila Kosaraju M.D., Vice President, Global Development, SIGA Technologies; Aleksander Kwaśniewski, Former President, Republic of Poland; Ambassador Kurt Volker, Executive Director, The McCain Institute for International Leadership; Andrés Pastrana Arango, Former President, Republic of Colombia; and Barry Eccleston, CEO, Airbus Americas.

“If you look at where we were a few years ago, the world was in a state of excess demand, and over the last few years, it’s changed to excess supply.

Among the many esteemed participants were three Greeks of Diaspora, Chairman and CEO of the Libra Group George Logothetis, Mizuho USA CEO John Koudounis, and Dow Chemical CEO Andrew Liveris.

“One of the great attributes of America is the social mobility of its people…Yet only nine miles from here [midtown Manhattan] is abject social immobility…We can’t help everyone, but that doesn’t give us a license to not help someone…To the young people of today don’t you ever give up and don’t you ever give in,” said George Logothetis in his speech, who is also a founding member of Concordia.

The two day event also included an appearance by US Vice President Biden who praised the organization for its efforts to bring closer the public and the private sector.

Concordia was founded by Nicholas M. Logothetis and Matthew Swift, two high-school friends who now lead the non-profit organization.

“The Concordia Summit is unlike any other event of its kind,” said Nick Logothetis, who also sits on Libra Group’s board of Directors.

“Developing lasting solutions through public-private partnerships is Concordia’s purpose and my personal mission,” he added.
