The Hellenic Initiative (THI), a global nonprofit whose mission is to mobilize the Greek diaspora to support sustainable economic renewal, and crisis relief for Greece and its people announced its third annual banquet set to take place in New York, September 30, 2015.

The fundraising event will support nonprofit organizations responding to the ongoing economic crisis in Greece. The prominent group of Diaspora Greeks will be joined by THI’s honorary patron President Bill Clinton.

The event will honor Greek-American businessmen John Catsimatidis and George Marcus, as well as the Agnes Varis Trust.The_Hellenic_initiative_2015

The Hellenic Initiative is a global, nonprofit, secular institution whose vision is to mobilize the Greek diaspora and philhellene community to support sustainable economic renewal for Greece and its people. Its programs pursue multiple strategies, but share a common focus on responsible investment – in strong nonprofit organizations responding to the crisis today and in leaders, entrepreneurs and businesses creating opportunity for tomorrow.

THI was founded by George Logothetis, Chairman and CEO of the Libra Group, Andrew Liveris, President, Chairman and CEO of The Dow Chemical Company, Muhtar Kent, Chairman and CEO of The Coca-Cola Company, George David, Chairman of the Board of Coca-Cola Hellenic Bottling Company and George Stamas, Senior Partner at Kirkland and Ellis LLP.

Last year, The Hellenic Initiative’s banquet raised $2.4 million and honored George D. Behrakis, John Pappajohn, and Peter G. Peterson.
