Greek Cinema Channel Broadcasts Greek Orthodox Liturgies in the U.S.

greek-cinemaGreek Cinema Channel offer Greeks living abroad the chance to stay in touch with the Greek Orthodox religion and its liturgies, as well as some of the greatest films ever produced in Greece.

As of last Easter, Greeks living abroad are able to watch all the Easter liturgies from St. Andrew church in Patras, Greece live via the Greek Cinema Channel. Apart from the United States, the channel also broadcasts in Canada and Australia.

Unfortunately, not many Greek Orthodox churches exist abroad only few can be found in certain areas where the Greek communities are well-established, thus making it very difficult for the faithful to visit often. Furthermore, after ERT World stopped broadcasting back in 2013, Greeks abroad suffered a great loss.

The Greek Cinema Channel is set to broadcast live starting from Sunday April 26 and every Sunday after that at 9 p.m. (NY time) and 11 p.m. (Sydney time) for 3 hours. Meanwhile, important events and celebrations such as Christmas or the Assumption, to name a few, will also be broadcast.

Greek Cinema Channel is a 24/7 TV channel, broadcasting more than 400 classic and new Greek films per year and up to 15 films per day, featuring some of Greece’s greatest artists such as Alekos Alexandrakis, Dimitris Horn, Melina Mercouri, Aliki Vougiouklaki, Dimitris Papamichail, Ellie Lambeti, Vassilis Xanthopoulos, Alexis Minotis, Rena Vlachopoulou and Lambros Konstantaras.

Distributed in the US through Dish Network, it can also be found in Canada (through Bell) and Australia (through MySat). For more information, you can visit the channel’s webpage or like its Facebook page.
