United Greek Americans Announce UGA Scholarship Fund: Apply Now

United Greek Americans Announces Scholarship FundUnited Greek Americans (UGA), an organization founded with the mission to unite Hellenic youth from around the United States and has managed to create the largest Greek party in the USA,  has launched a scholarship fund for Greek-American students. You can apply here.

The annual UGA Hellenic Scholarship Fund will be giving $1,000 in scholarships ($500 for one male winner, $500 for one female winner).

“Our Greek culture is rich in history and tradition,” reads the organization’s press release.

“Greeks from the beginning of time created the cornerstones of philosophy, arts, music, dance, cuisine, language, and government- these principles are still relevant in today’s society.”

UGA founder Deano Kastis says that his goal behind launching the scholarship is to reconnect Greek youth that might be presently disconnected from the traditional culture with the Hellenic ideals.

“The goal of our scholarship is to showcase how embracing our Greek values can positively impact a young Greek-American’s life,” adds Kastis whose upcoming Memorial weekend party is expected to be attended by almost one thousand Greek Americans and Greeks from all around the world.

“I was raised by a single mother and my grandparents, so I know how tough it is for kids to succeed during those stages in their lives, especially when they are trying to manage work and college, this why we established our scholarship fund,” notes Kastis.

Scholarship Requirements – Apply
The applicants will be required to submit a 2 to 3 page essay on how their Hellenic roots have positively impacted their life’s values and outlook in order to carry the torch for themselves and future generations of proud Greek Americans. All essays must be submitted by May 10, 2015 and will be reviewed by UGA’s board. The winners will be announced on Memorial Day Weekend during the annual UGA party in Clearwater, FL.
