Greek Cultural Center Concert Dedicated to Stelios Kazantzidis

Manhattan stelios-kazantzidisA tribute concert dedicated to Greek folk singer Stelios Kazantzidis will be held in New York, under the auspices of the Greek Cultural Center.

“We owe this to the greatest Greek performer,” said the Greek Cultural Center President, Iraklis Kremmidas. “This concert is organized in honor of Greek migrants, the grandfathers and grandmothers who opened the road for the younger generation of Greeks in the U.S. and lived through the songs of our nation’s folk singer.”

Greek singers Gerasimos Andreatos and Giota Nega will perform during the concert, along with a Greek Diaspora children’s choir, while the Pontian Association “Pontos” from Norwalk, Connecticut will present several dances.

In attendance will also be the late singers’ wife, Vasso Kazantzidis. “It will be a great honor for us to welcome Vasso Kazantzidis, the woman who gave all her love to the unforgettable Greek singer. By honoring her we will also honor the greatest singer who so authentically expressed the sorrows, sufferings and hopes of the world,” added Kremmidas

The concert will take place on Saturday, May 2, in Town Hall, Manhattan.

The Greek Cultural Center (GCC) is a non-profit organization which has played a key role in the perpetuation of Greek culture in the Greek American community for over 40 years.
