Greek Artists Perform in New York

Metropolitan Opera of New YorkMore and more artists from Greece are visiting New York to perform in one of the city’s greatest music halls and in night clubs.

Artists from Greece have performed many times before at the Metropolitan Opera of New York, Carnegie Hall and Town Hall, even at colleges and night clubs.

Myrto Papathanasiou is set to perform as Musetta at the opera ‘La Boheme’ of Giacomo Puccini this Sunday November 16, at the National Opera Center. The American audience will have the chance to admire the Greek soprano at a concert that includes the works of Greek composers.

World famous Greek violinist, Leonidas Kavakos will perform at Carnegie Hall on November 22. He will be joined by Chinese pianist Yuja Wang. They will play works of Brahms, Ravel among other artists. This concert has been organized by the Alexandros Onassis Foundation.

George Dalaras, one of the greatest singers of Greece, is currently on a tour dedicated to “Rebetico Unplugged: the Greek Blues.”  The tour will extend to European capitals, the U.S. and Canada, and he is scheduled to perform at the Manhattan Town Hall on November 20. Athena Lampiri, Aspasia Stratigou and Vasilis Korakakis will also be joining him. The tour has been organized by Globe Entertainment.

Marios Fragoulis, the well-known tenor, singer Giannis Savvidakis, composer Stavros Xarhakos and singers Stamatis Kokotas and Iro Saia, as well as singer Eleftheria Arvanitaki, Anna Vissi, Antonis Remos and Yiannis Ploutarhos are only a few of the artists that have performed in New York this year. Their appearances were all marked with great success, as the Greek-American community and their U.S. fans attended their concerts.
