Greek Film Festival Opens in New York

ny-city-greek-film-festivalThis year’s New York City Greek Film Festival will be held from Saturday, October 18, until Wednesday, October 22, at the Museum of the Moving Image in Astoria, NY, before moving to Bow Tie Cinema in Manhasset, NY, on October 20-21.

The New York City Greek Film Festival will continue at the Ziegfeld Theatre in Manhattan on Thursday, October 23, at the NYIT Auditorium in New York City from Friday, October 24, until Sunday, October 26, and concludes at Cinema Village, from Monday, October 27, until Thursday, October 30.

According to the festival’s website, the organizers’ goal is “To establish a presence for Greek films in New York City. The festival aspires to bring the best work of Greek filmmakers to New York audiences and to show the films in the most up to date screening facilities.”

The festival will screen Greek movies such as “An Evening with Filmmaker Vassilis Loules,” “Lela Karayanni: The Fragrance of a Heroine,” “The Noose” and “The Vougiouklaki Phenomenon.”

The New York City Greek Film Festival states, “We hope that New Yorkers will avail themselves of the relatively rare opportunity to see Greek films by coming to the festival and discovering for themselves the work of fresh and exciting new talents.”
