Sweet Surrender Bake House featured on ‘Good Day New York’

Sweet Surrender Bake House, located in Levittown, New York, was recently featured on “Good Day New York” and it is home to their famous pastry, the crannoli. It is co-owned by Greek-American women Helen Kyrillidis and Tanya Salagiannis.

They rose to prominence after capturing the attention of Long Island radio station 98.3 FM (WKJY) and subsequently won a challenge, where the Long Island bakers had to come up with their own sweet delight. The finished product was the ever-tasty crannoli, which has been trademarked.

On their bakery being profiled on the morning Fox television show Good Day New York, Kyrillidis remarked, “It was fantastic and really great. They contacted us because they had heard about the crannoli and we came out with a few different creations such as caramel, jelly, chocolate cream and a Nutella one that has cannoli cream with Oreo cookie inside. We always have the original and every month we will have a different flavor. We are doing different varieties,” she said. “We went there with a whole bunch of sweets and co-host Greg Kelly loved our rainbow cookies” she added.

Apart from their expertise in pastries and baking, the Sweet Surrender Bake House ladies are also actively involved in philanthropic causes and they recently donated proceeds towards the fundraiser of 25-year-old guidance counselor Anthony Michaelides who was critically injured in California. “We were very happy to do that fundraiser for Anthony. I didn’t know him personally, but Tanya and I know a lot of his family and we wanted to do our part. We offered a certain percentage of our proceeds that day and we had a box outside to collect some donations which went to the ‘Save Anthony’ fund. We are always trying to do things to help the community,” she said.
