Greek Students in Microsoft Competition Final

Greek students-microsoftThe semifinals of the Imagine Cup competition have concluded and four Greek students will compete in the finals. The worldwide competition conducted under the auspices of Microsoft included more than 17o participators from 76 countries across the world. The jury selected 33 teams, including a Greek team that will compete in the finals.

The Greek team called “Genesis” consists of Greek students who are involved in the field of games. The team from Greece along with the rest of the participants will travel to Seattle, USA, to the headquarters of the company from July 29 to August 2, to compete in the final. Genesis ​​will compete with nine other teams in the category “Games” in the global final. The Greek team has also won the world contest Visual Studio Online Boost.

This year’s jury will include of Satya Nadella, CEO of Microsoft, Hadi Partovi, founder of the non-profit educational institution Code.org and Erik Martin, general manager of Reddit.com. The Imagine Cup competition includes three categories: Games, World Citizenship, and Innovation.

The Imagine Cup competition was launched by Microsoft Corp. in 2003 in order to encourage young people to develop innovative applications, and to claim international recognition. The prize of the big winners of the global final will exceed the amount of $200,000. The Imagine Cup is very appealing to young people around the world, with over 1.65 million individuals submitting proposals so far. With over 250,000 participants from around the world in 2013, the competition is intended to highlight the creativity of students and young people in general.
