The Greek National Team got stuck at the Newark airport in New Jersey after a technical problem occurred on the plane that was supposed to carry the 2004 European Champions to Brazil on Saturday.

As a result of the flight cancelation the Greek team will arrive to its World Cup training base in Brazil one day later.

The Greek Football Association announced on Facebook that “due to a technical problem of the navigation system of the airplane the flight of the national team from New Jersey to Aracaju (Brazil) was cancelled.”

Greece was supposed to leave the US for Brazil early Saturday morning, after winning a World Cup warm-up game against Bolivia at New Jersey’s Red Bull Arena.

The Football Association says “FIFA is already informed and the national team will stay overnight” in the United States.

Greece’ first World Cup match is against Colombia in Belo Horizonte on June 14.
