Greek Football Team Playing Two Friendly Matches

greek national football teamThe Greek national football team has not been confronted with any problems during its preparation for the World Cup 2014 in Brazil. The Greek team is part the third group and will be playing on June 14, 19 and 24. The coach Fernando Santos has not faced any particular problems and as a result everything is moving according to plan, as the team is preparing for friendly matches in the United States.

Furthermore, the team will take part in an international friendly tournament which will be held from May 29 to June 7.

The Greek team will play on June 3 against Nigeria in Philadelphia and on June 6 against Bolivia in New Jersey. Aside from the Greek team, the national teams of Spain, Côte d’Ivoire, Bosnia/Herzegovina, Turkey, Honduras, Israel, Nigeria, Bolivia, El Salvador, as well as professional teams from the United States: DC United and Columbus Crew will be participating in the tournament.

During Saturday’s training, Santos tried out various game plans which he may use in the matches. Santos emphasized on tactics, good ball movement and the movement of players when they don’t have the ball.

During the training match Karnezis played as goalkeeper, Torosidis as rightback, Papastathopoulos and Manolas as stoppers, while Cholevas was the leftback. Katsouranis played as defensive midfielder and Maniatis and Karagounis were center midfielders.
