Harvard to Present ‘Hello Anatolia’

Chrysovalantis_Stamelos

The Harvard College Hellenic Society and Harvard College Turkish Students’ Association will present ‘Hello Anatolia,’ a film about Greco-Turkish relations in the 21st century.

The film will be followed by a Q&A with Director Valantis Stamelos and Producer Paras Chaudhari, and a reception to follow, March 28 at 7:00pm.

This feature-length documentary presents the personal story of young Greek American who relocates from New York to Izmir (Smyrna) in search of his roots, and establishes a life and family there. There is a very strong social message, trying to build a bridge between the Greek-Turkish-American cultures by focusing on shared traits.

This is not a film about politics, or a recounting of the wars fought in the early 20th centuries, or that tries to push a point of view about the past – it’s about someone willing to take the next step, 100 years later, with an open mind and a desire to create a new history going forward within a very simple human context.
