Greek interactive artist and designer George Zisiadis is considered to be the happiest man in San Francisco. He has spoken to electronic magazine ellines.com about his life in the United States, and his work.

Zisiadis was born in New York but originates from Thessaloniki in northern Greece, which he visits every summer. He grew up in Astoria, a neighborhood with a strong Greek cultural imprint, and went to a Greek school. “I grew up in Astoria, New York, in a very “Greek” neighborhood. Going to Greece every summer throughout childhood, I very much grew up bi-culturally,” he said.

He studied at Stuyvesant High School and was then admitted to Harvard, where he studied Sociology. He is interested in creating ‘playful projects’ that inspire people.

His most recent project was called “Pulse of the city”, an interactive public art installation, in five locations in Boston. The project turned pedestrians’ heartbeats into music. His main target, he says, is to infuse creativity and humor in people’s lives.

He has been described as “the happiest resident of San Francisco” but he says that it doesn’t mean that he is never sad. “Happiness is appreciating the beauty of what is around you at any given time.”
