Greek Participant at Manhattan International Film Festival

The Scarlet Letter - Movie

Nineteen-year-old Anastasia Koutsouradi from the island of Skopelos, Greece, will be participating in the Manhattan International Film Festival (MIFF) in New York with her film “The Scarlet Letter.”

Last summer, Anastasia and her team submitted the film to the “Skopelos International Film Festival for Youth” (SIFFY). From a total of 130 films, Anastasia’s has been selected to participate in the New York film festival alongside 12 more films. From February 24 to March 6, the 13 directors will visit New York in order to attend the festival where their films will be presented to the public.

Anastasia said that she was shocked and at the same time extremely pleased and happy to be included as a participant. As she explained to a local newspaper, she participated in the SIFFY festival in order to learn the secrets of cinematography and to express herself through the art of film but never expected to be among the winners.

Skopelos has been holding “Skopelos International Film Festival for Youth” since 2009 with great success. This year 60 young people participated and were introduced to the art of cinema and film-making by renowned directors from Korea, China, U.S. and Taiwan.
