A heavy penalty was imposed by the Federal Court to Chris Orsaris, almost four years after his arrest and exactly one year after he pled guilty in court.

Osaris, was charged for stealing millions from his employer — a car dealer — in order to fund his rich lifestyle. He has already spent four years in prison after his arrest in 2010, and is now facing three more years of conviction.

In order to make money to support his luxurious lifestyle, Orsaris would inflate the commissions he received from Major World Automotive dealers, where he worked as the general manager.

Furthermore, it was found that after he bought an $860,000 boat, he reported it stolen so he could make an insurance claim. A search revealed that he had at least three properties in his name: a $5.5 million apartment at the Trump World Tower, a $3 million house in the Hampton’s and a $2 million dollar in Miami. The Judge has ordered him to forfeit those properties and also give a $13.8 million reimbursement to his former employer.

In addition, Orsaris also owes $500,000 to the insurance company that was in charge of the stolen boat claim, and $2.7 million to the IRS.

His lawyers tried to convince the court that he should only serve time for his crimes, but despite their efforts the court was not convinced.

“He has done things wrong, he has admitted to them, and he has done his best to make this situation right,” they wrote.
