US Couple Contact Police for Little Blond Girl Found in Greece

kansasWhile the organization Smile of the Child in Athens, that has taken in Maria, receives a substantial number of calls and e-mails everyday, only eight are the cases that the Greek police has taken seriously into account.

Among them an American couple, Jeremy Irwin and Deborah Bradley, whose daughter Lisa Irwin vanished in Kansas City, Missouri, in 2011. There are also another three cases in the States, and of one in Canada, France, Poland and Sweden that have a high potential of being Maria’s parents.

It is reported that Lisa disappeared from the family’s house in Kansas City in October 2011, when she was 10 months old.
Her mother stated that someone took the baby from their house while she was passed out drunk in her bedroom and her husband was at work. However, the couple had contradicting statements about what exactly happened that night.

According to The Telegraph, Panagiotis Pardalis, a spokesman of the Smile of the Child says: “By Sunday evening, we had received more than 8,000 calls and thousands of emails. Our website had received more than 200,000 visits and its Facebook page about half a million.”

Despite the fact that Interpol has an important number of girls (38) under the age of six in its database of missing children, no child matches Maria’s profile.
