Archie Karas Arrested For Casino Cheating

Archie-KarasGreek-American Anargyros Karabourniotis, 62, known in gambling circles as Archie Karas, has been arrested on suspicion of winning more than $8,000 from the Barona Casino in eastern San Diego County by cheating in blackjack, Los Angeles Times reported.

According to the San Diego County District Attorney Bonnie Dumanis, the above incident took place in July and was caught by the surveillance cameras operated by the Barona Gaming Commission.
Famous Las Vegas high roller, Karabourniotis, is being currently held without bail in Las Vegas. An extradition hearing is set for Monday. He is under suspicion for marking cards so that he could secretly identify the value of each card being dealt.
As we read through Los Angeles Times, the investigation into the Barona incident involved the Barona commission, the California Department of the Justice Bureau of Gambling Control, and the San Diego County district attorney’s office.
However, it is not the first time for Karabourniotis, as he has been arrested four times in the past by the Nevada Gaming Control Board.
“Karas has been a threat to the gaming industry in many jurisdictions,” stressed the board’s enforcement chief Karl Bennison.
