Obama Talked To Venizelos at UN

U.S. President  Barack Obama had a brief conversation with Greek Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister/PASOK Socialist leader Evangelos Venizelos, during the American leader’s reception for the heads of the delegations participating in the 68th Session of the UN General Assembly in New York.

According to the Greek news agency AMNA, Obama referred to his meeting with Prime Minister Antonis Samaras in August and he reiterated to enizelos that they will follow up on what was discussed then, in the White House when the Premier returns to the U.S. on Sept. 28.

Venizelos represented Greece in the General Assembly and attended the speeches of the United Nations Secretary-General, Ban Ki-moon and Obama.

Venizelos also had brief meetings with several of his counterparts and heads of delegations, including the Prime Ministers of Italy, Albania ad Malta (with whom they discussed mainly issues of Mediterranean policy and maritime zones.)

Venizelos will be present Sept. 25 at the lunch which will be hosted by the UN General Secretary in honor of the heads of the delegations.
