“The Greek Diaspora, through the organizations of AHEPA, will continue to stand by the Greeks that are hit by the crisis,” 25 Governors of the USA and Canada said from Washington during a meeting they had with the General Director of the NGO Apostoli of the Holy Archdiocese of Athens, Konstantinos Dimtsas.
The Supreme President of the American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association (AHEPA), Anthony Kouzounis, during the meeting he had with Dimtsas, conveyed the anxiety of the Greek Diaspora on the developments in Greece pointing out that: “Our heart, our mind, our thoughts are with the motherland. We suffer the same as you do. We will help the children and their families with all our strength. Hellenism as a whole will encounter united the new difficulties as well.”
Kouzounis announced the decision of the Governors to stand by Apostoli and referred to the Archbishop Ieronymos’ efforts saying: “Give a big thank you to the Archbishop of Athens because he keeps Greece united and alive with his actions.”
During a speech he gave addressing the Greek Diaspora, Dimtsas presented the situation in the country, as well as the Apostoli’s work and thanked them for their contribution, noting: “For all of us that live in Greece, the presence and distinctions abroad make us proud. The Greek Diaspora is the most vivid cell of the Organism. Without your support, our work would be much smaller. The Church back in the home country, as well as in the USA, conserved Hellenism’s consistency.”
The Governors from the states of the USA and Canada agreed to specialized assistance programs by the Apostoli and to start an information campaign for the impact the crisis has on the country.
