Santorini in Travel and Leisure Hall of Fame

SantoriniFor one more year, the Greek island of Santorini is included among the top ten islands in the world. Last year Santorini was in the sixth place, while this year in the fourth, so it moved up two places and now the island is entitled its entrance in the “Hall of Fame” of the travel magazine Travel & Leisure.

In the meantime, Istanbul occupied the first place in the ten best cities in Europe. In 2012, Istanbul ranked second and secured its entrance in the “Hall of Fame”.

The ceremony for World’s Best Awards 2013 of the travel magazine Travel & Leisure took place on July 18 in Manhattan, New York City.

From a research on the list of the 50 best hotels, best cities, best airports that have been awarded by the magazine, only Santorini is included in the category of the top ten islands.

Here are the top ten islands in the world according to Travel & Leisure:

1. Palawan, Philippines (96.04)

2. Boracay, Philippines (93.58)

3. Maui, Hawaiian Islands (89.83)

4. Santorini, Greece (89.37)

5. Prince Edward Island, Canada (89.23)

6. Bali, Indonesia (88.70)

7. Kauai, Hawaiian Islands (88.50)

8. Sicily, Italy  (88.06)

9. Koh Samui, Tailand (87.43)

10. Galápagos Islands, Equador (86.95)

Three of the top ten islands are not included in 2012 top ten, while only five in ten, Sontorini among then, meet the criteria for their inclusion in the “Hall of Fame” of the travel magazine Travel & Leisure.
