The Jaharis Family Foundation, Inc. announced the promise of donating $2 million to provide assistance to children and families who are in urgent need in Greece due to the economic crisis.
The announcement of the donation was made by the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America in honor of the Archbishop of Athens and All Greece, Ieronymos, and of Archbishop Demetrios of America for their cooperation and efforts to provide humanitarian help to the people in Greece.
According to the National Herald, the donation as officially announced by the Jaharis Family will be primarily directed to the IOCC (International Orthodox Christian Charities, the humanitarian affiliate organization of the Archdiocese of Greece.
In addition, the Jaharis Family Foundation’s gift will assist two more NGOs, Doctors of the World being one them. The gift will contribute to the extension of vaccination programs for children and the elderly, as well as to the creation of more polyclinics that will provide basic and urgent medical care to vulnerable groups such as children, pregnant women and the elderly.
