Cretan Wines Presented in New York

winesAmerican friends of wine seeking new flavors and aromas, will have the opportunity to get to know Greek wines and in particular those produced on the Greek island of Crete.

Winemakers of Crete will present varieties from all over the island in a specialized event of Cretan wine tasting that will take place in New York City on June 5.

According to the organizers, more than 20 wineries and 50 different labels from Crete are expected to participate in the event, showing the particularities of the Cretan vineyards, as well as their excellent quality level.

Those testing the wines will have the chance to experience indigenous varieties, the long wine making tradition together with the new face of Cretan wine making.

The event will be hosted at a hotel restaurant in Manhattan, while chiefly wine importers, journalists and professionals of the field have been nvited.

As reported, the Cretan wine tasting event is co-funded by Greek and European funds, by the Heraklion-Lasithi Winemakers Network, Chania-Rethymno Winemakers Network and Heraklion Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The event is organized in the framework of the program, Wine Promotion in Third Countries. According to the organizers, this is a program, through which Cretan wines, during the last four years, have acquired all the essential tools for their organized and modern promotion and have managed to attract the interest not only of the Greek market, but the foreign market as well.

Cretan vineyards have the longest continuous presence in Europe featuring intriguing native varietals and a range of award winning.
