AHEPA Keeps Giving to Greece

ahepaContinuing its aid to Greece, the American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association (AHEPA) has donated another more than $150,000 to help Greeks hurt by a crushing economic crisis, including $20,000 for the Christmas holidays to the Greek Church’s Apostoli mission for soup kitchens.

With each $10,000 in donations, some 500 packages of dry food and goods are prepared to be given to a four-member family and lasts for 20 days. In April this year, AHEPA and Daughters of Penelope donated $93,500 as a part of its humanitarian campaign to help Greece’s poor people. On October 2012 a shipping container with medicines and surgical suppplies of more than $650.000  had been sent by the International Orthodox Christian Charities (IOCC).

John Grossomanides, AHEPA President, said, “The need is great all-year around, but is especially felt during the holidays,” and called on Greek-Americans to contribute to this effort.
