Roosevelt Larigakis Passes Away

The American Hellenic Institute (AHI) mourns the passing of Roosevelt Nicholas Larigakis of Delran, N.J., who died on Nov. 8 at 89. He was the father AHI President Nick Larigakis.

Roosevelt was born on the island of Skopelos, Greece and was always very proud that he was named after a U.S.president, Teddy Roosevelt. He endured the German wartime occupation of Greece and immigrated to the United States in 1947.

His life had many common points with other Greeks who migrated to USA in the middle of last decade. Although he lived in the U.S. for 60 years, he never forgot Greece and particularly the island where he was born, Skopelos. As he used to say, in Skopelos he lived the happiest moments of his life.
