Tribute Concert to Manolis Hiotis in N.Y.

On Nov. 9 at the Stathakion Cultural Center, 22-51 29th Street in Astoria, New York, CYPRECO of America, Inc., will be bringing to New Yorkers another unique musical performance featuring the everlasting rembetika (Greek blues) and laika (popular-folk) songs of Manolis Hiotis.

Concert attendees will be treated to an evening featuring the amazing music group Fantasia Music led by bouzouki soloist Mike Stoupakis and singer Christos Zavolas accompanied by Kostas Psarros, bouzouki, Sofia Tzini, vocals, Dimitris Lambrianos, guitar/keyboards, George Maniatis, drums/percussion.

Hiotis who emerged in the Greek music scene in the early 1950’s invented the four-string bouzouki which brought about a musical revolution in the Greek music industry.  His repertoire consists of more than 1,500 rembetika (Greek blues) and Laika (popular-folk) songs which are popular to this day.
