The Hellenic Mountaineering Club of Kalamata traveled to New York on Oct. 13 to visit the Messinian Hall, where they presented their activities as well as video clips and natural sites of Mount Taygetos and Mount Everest.
Ten club members, led by Kostas Fikiris, attended the event organized by the Messinian Benevolent Association of New York, Aristomenis. The event was supported by Plant Your Roots in Greece Foundation in cooperation with the mountaineering club in the planting process and protection of the Taygetos area, a unique ecosystem in Greece.
The club’s activities include climbing, escalade, rock climbing, hiking, firefighting, forest conservation and protection. The club members produce documentaries of their journeys and climbing activities from all over the world.
