Hellenic Museum of Michigan Serving Up Kefi

Officials of the Hellenic Museum of Michigan can’t forget their roots despite being far from their home country. An annual festival is not enough for them, it appears, and so, they organize smaller Greek events every Thursday in August.

The Greeks of Michigan invite us to evoke our own Kefi, a word that can hardly be translated into English. It can be loosely explained as “the euphoric emotion one feels when friends, music, food and good spirits mix,” explains the museum’s website.

The events feature Greek mezedes (hors d’oeuvres), drinks, dancing, music, and culture, all based on Greek cuisine, showing that in the heart of Detroit’s midtown, Greek culture is present. For more information on the museum or the event, visit their website or call 313-831-6100.
