Greek Films Make Mark at N.Y. International Film Festival

NEW YORK -This year’s New York City International Film Festival (NYCIFF) from Aug. 9-16 will feature four f Greek films, officials said. The first Greek film to be shot in a world premiere on August 11 is Slave, written and directed by Greek-Cypriot Jorgo Papavassiliou. The film is among the best narrative feature film nominees of the competition part and Papavassiliou is competing for the Best Director prize.

The second Greek film is Nasty Boys (Kolopeda) by Stelios Kamitsis. NYCIFF Co-founder Ingeborg Caroline Johnson believed it would be very popular among the audience, especially young people. There will also be two short-length films by Greek directors; Every Night I am Falling out of Nowhere, by Michael Monemvassiotis and Off Season, by Eugene Ioannou with an American production team.
