Greek professor of the Texas University Dimitri Nanopoulos is one of the world’s most distinguished scientists in the field of the High Energy Physics, and one of the scientists who contributed to the discovery of the Higgs boson or the so-called “God particle.”
During the past few days, the international media and academic circles are buzzing about this great discovery, and Dimitri Nanopoulos explains why this is so important. “This particle is very special and we have conducted investigations on this for the past forty-five years,” he told to the National Herald newspaper. “It shows us how matter attains its mass,” continues Mr Nanopoulos.
Greek professor compares Higgs boson to a sorts of gas. “Should the universe be a wide sea, then this particle-gas goes through water and interacts with other particles,” he adds saying that final interaction depends on the size of the mass.
Mr Dimitri Nanopoulos has been working on this particle since 1978 and as a result, he now feels pretty proud about his team work. He is one of world’s most successful and eminent professors and scientists, having studied in Europe’s best universities and having published several innovative papers.
