Occasioned by the Greek June 17 election, famous television host Jon Stewart satirized financial, social and political developments taking place in Greece and Europe on his “Daily Show.”
Jon Stewart commented on the election result, since Greeks voted for “both far-right and far-left parties in the parliamentary election.”
And he also included a funny skit about a banknote belonging to the drachma “family.” Stewart showed a man with a mustache depicted on the note as a new type of euro instead of Greece keeping the original drachma.
But then, an Italian note and a pound appeared as well, and all together they discussed the current situation in Europe. The three banknotes were not interested in economics, however, and they commented on more social things, such as Queen Elizabeth II’s Diamond Jubilee.
