69-year-old Greek American Gets College Degree Alongside His Sons

Most parents – especially Greeks’- dream that their children study something… anything! What matters is they grow up someday and enroll in a University. But what happens when parents or even grandparents decide to study and their graduation ceremony has come? This is the case of Tom Dimakis, who lives in Lynn, Massachussetts, and did not just encourage his kids to study but also graduated from the University with them!

Renowned businessman and philanthropist Tom Dimakis graduated with his MBA  in Business Administration, along with his three sons, Andrew, Timotheus and Ilias. The four men completed their studies at Suffolk University in Boston.

Dimakis dreamt of studying after his return from Vietnam in 1967, but there was never enough spare time. He was working day and night at his company “Old Neighborhood Foods.” Today, this company employs 375 people.

Dimakis was studying with his sons, who had also chosen the same subjects, while working at the same time. Now, he warns that he intends to study Law!

He is one of the most prominent members of the Greek Community in Massachussets, having donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to institutions in need.
