Greek-American Giorgos Pagoulatos was among the thousands of students in the U.S. Military Academy in West Point for the 2012 academic year. The young valedictorian received his award during a special graduation ceremony.
American Vice President Joe Biden presented a diploma to valedictorian Giorgos Pagoulatos during a graduation and commissioning ceremony at the U.S. Military Academy in West Point, N.Y., on Saturday, May 26.
Biden told the 972 graduates that they deserve special praise because they decided to pursue military service fully aware that they could be fighting a war after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.
Biden also mentioned that the USA is now in the process of abstaining from long-lasting wars, thus having the opportunity to redefine their foreign policy. “Now we can focus on new international challenges,” he noted.
