Greek Man Arrested While Attending Greek Easter Gathering

Aris Karamousianis

A Massachusetts fugitive was arrested yesterday after he was captured at a Greek Easter gathering with his family in Pelham.

Aris N. Karamousianis, 28, of Lowell was arrested and charged as a fugitive from justice and resisting arrest, Pelham police said last night.

Karamousianis has been on the run since December 2009 after he fled his criminal trial. He was on trial for illegal possession of ammunition, conspiracy to traffic firearms, illegal possession of a gun with a defaced serial number and an unlicensed firearm sale. He asked for a new attorney and was free on bail but never returned to court for the trial, police said.

Pelham police also said they received a tip that Karamousianis was with family members at a Greek Easter celebration at 137 Marsh Road in Pelham, New Hampshire. When officers arrived, the homeowner denied Karamousianis was at the gathering.

“Further investigation revealed [he] was hiding in the house,” according to a police statement released last night.

Karamousianis took off on foot, running through the backyard and trying to evade police. He was quickly captured on the wood line of the property by Officer Ronald Page.

He will be arraigned this morning in Salem District Court. The owner of 137 Marsh Road is Trent Batalogianas, according to town records online.
