Greek Chef Maria Loi Cooked for President Obama

The USA President enjoyed Greek tastes, as Maria Loi revealed that she cooked Mediterranean delights for Obama’s early and completely-closed-to-press reception for Greek Independence Day, held last Thursday in the East Room. The White House didn’t release a guest list, but the party was for 300 hundred people.

Maria Loi was the Executive Chef of the event and cooked Greek dishes such as spinach pie, musakas, Greek salad, dolmadakia as well as deserts like baklavas.

The famous chef, who became widely known from her collaboration with Gregoris Arnaoutoglou and Heleni Menegaki, had the chance to have a private talk with President Obama.

Referring to this meeting, Maria Loi stated that “the President was direct, plain and he really loved spinach pie and baklava. He adores honey and I got to tell you there’s a beehive in the garden of the White House”.

Maria Loi has moved to New York where she owns the eponymous restaurant Loi on the Upper West Side, which offers excellent Greek dishes.
