New York: Aristotle University Students to Participate in Greek Parade for March 25th National Anniversary

Students of the Technical School of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki will participate in the parade for the  March 25th National Anniversary at 5th Avenue of New York, organized by the Greek Associations of the American city.

The 48 students of the Mechanical Engineering Department will be accompanied by two professors, Alexandros Mpatsios and Domniki Ioannidou, and will line up in the first honor rows of the parade, carrying a banner of the university sign, wearing analogous badges, hats and shirts.

“We will march, not as part of the main parade, but as a group of new scientists from Greece, on whom the country’s hopes are counting to escape the financial crisis”. We want to send a message of hope to our compatriots and honor them by waving the Greek flag up high” explained Professor Batsios.

The group from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki was initially only to have an educational trip as planned annually, and they decided to combine their stay with participating in the parade. The professors and students pay for their own expenses and don’t receive state funding for the trip.

The Greek Associations of New York were more than excited when they heard the proposal of the academic group, and are now looking forward to receiving them.
