Greek-American Fighter "Da Bomb" Loses the Title

The Greek-American boxer Donovan “Da Bomb” Georgiou was defeated by the strong Edwin “La Bomba” Rodriguez on Saturday night during the Northern American Championship in the middle-weight division in Madison Square Garden.

“He fought like a lion, he made a good fight and his passion overwhelmed the audience and particularly the Greeks who attended the great fight”, points out the athlete’s manager Mike Michael of Cestus Management. “Despite the fact that he lost the fight, we have a lot to expect from him in the future”, he adds.

The fight that was broadcasted live in America, Cyprus and 180 more countries, was considered “ambiguous”, because Georgiou had to go on fighting with a serious ear injury after the third round.

The Greek fighter was wearing the Cypriot flag on his trousers and many people from the audience were waving Greek and Cypriot flags.

Georgiou lost the fight by taking more hits from his Dominican opponent, Edwin Rodriguez. “I tried many times to hit him, but his target was to avoid my punches and not to fight me” explained the twenty-seven-year-old “Da Bomb” after the fight was over. He promised his fans he will be back to claim the world title again.
