Gus Bilirakis on Turkey’s Possible Involvement in Greek Fires

Greek – American Congressman Gus Bilirakis, co-chair of the Congressional Caucus on Hellenic issues, and member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, expressed his concern regarding reports that Turkey may intentionally have started the forest fires in Greece during the 90s.

As reported from his office in Washington, Mr. Bilirakis says he is worried by information recently acquired that Turkish agents might be behind past Greek forest fires, though the Turkish official who originally made that statement claims it is false, and that he was misinterpreted and misunderstood. Regardless, the Greek – American Congressman also praised Greece’s Ministry of Justice on the decision to fully investigate the case.

However, according to Mr. Bilirakis, what is even more important is that the persons involved in the issue confess their actions and admit anything objectionable.
