Yannis Pappas, the comedic mastermind behind Mr. Panos, one of the most popular Greek web characters ever created, will perform a few live shows on January 27th in New York City and on February 10th in South Africa.
The Yannis Pappas show featuring Mr. Panos (the second time Mr. Panos will be live in NYC) is hosted by Comedian Nate Bargatze. The headlining set from Yannis Pappas and special guest Mr. Panos will be closing the show by discussing his intention to run for president of the United States.
Yannis Pappas is a Greek-American writer, performer and producer who has done several shorts, commercials, and of course a lot of stand up comedy. Yannis has gained thousands of fans through Mr. Panos’ video blog, in which the fictional 60 year-old Queens restaurant owner blogs to the world his opinions and Greek values through his son’s camera capabilities. Recently Mr. Panos has gained world-wide attention, and this summer, Pappas was selected as a new face for the Montreal Comedy Festival.
The Greek-American comedian will also be doing two big theatre shows with Mr. Panos live in South africa.

It’s my first time there and I am thrilled to hear that Mr. Panos has so many fans overseas amongst Greeks in other English-speaking countries. I guess America is not the only country to which Greeks came and opened restaurants. I am looking forward to throwing a little Greek pride around and also having some fun making fun of ourselves together. Greeks are Greek no matter what language they speak, its in our genes and the long cultural history we share.”

Another popular character created by Pappas is Maurica Rodriguez, a Puerto Rican transexual from the Lower East Side who is trying to find a boyfriend by posting videos online. Pappas will be having shows featuring Maurica Feb 2-4 in New York City.
