John Katehis Charged With 25 Years to Life in Prison for Murder of WABC Reporter

A Brooklyn jury convicted 19-year-old John Katehakis of second degree murder in a retrial of the 2009 murder of WBCA reporter George Weber.

After a mistrial in 2009, Katehis is facing the maximum penalty NY law foresees, according to which, the defendant will have to spend 25 years in prison before having the right to file an appeal.

Katehis was 16-years-old when he stabbed Weber over 50 times to death after arranging a meeting with him on Craiglist to engage in rough sex.

According to prosecution, Satanist follower and sadomasochist Katehis may have even planned Weber’s murder and might have tortured the 47-year-old victim before killing him.

Katehis had confessed to the crime when arrested. His lawyers had claimed self-defense by saying that Weber had preyed on the underage via Craigslist, supplied him with alcohol, cocaine and money and tried to force Katehis to have sadomasochistic sex with him.
