US General Pagonis to Receive 2011 Homeric Award

Retired US Lieutenant General William G. Pagonis will be presented with the 32nd Homeric Award of the Chian Federation on Saturday, December 3.

The award will bestowed to General Pagonis during a gala at the Hellenic American Cultural Center of the Chian Federation in Astoria, New York.

General Pagonis is mostly known for having served as General Norman Schwarzkopf’s logistics commander during operation Desert Shield/ Desert Storm. He will be this year’s recipient of the Homeric Award for his social, military, economic and cultural contribution throughout his 29 years of service.

The Homeric Award is presented annually to distinguished individuals advocating human rights, democratic ideals and furthering human knowledge.

The Homeric Award is considered to be one of the most prestigious awards presented by the Greek-American community.
