SAE USA Region Coordinator’s Message for the Anniversary of October 28

Theodoros Spyropoulos SAE USA Region Coordinator sent out a message of support to recession-hit Greece on the occasion of October 28th. Mr. Spyropoulos called on the Greek-American community to assist in any possible way the homeland, which is currently in a very difficult position, given the extended economic crisis and consequent social turmoil.

“This year, let us consciously honor our national memory, through acts of solidarity and support towards Greece. Let us accept the baton of struggle and national duty. With patience, perseverance, and the power of collective effort in particular, we will build a better future” stressed out Mr. Spyropoulos.

The SAE USA Region Coordinator also underlined that Greek history is full of ordeals, hardships and challenges but the Greek people managed to surpass them all because of its morale and determination.

“We are all concerned on how we can contribute to our homeland. Our interest is given, as are our intentions. Until we, as Greek Diaspora, plan a collective way to assist the homeland, let each of us stand by our relatives, friends and compatriots in Greece, in any possible manner, morally and materially. Moreover, let us defend Greece in international fora with the power we hold as American citizens” added Mr. Spyropoulos.

Moreover, Mr. Spyropoulos pointed out in his supportive message that Greece is not the only country hit by the financial crisis. Greeks around the world, especially in Greece need to draw pride, strength, and courage from the culture, philosophy, sciences, noble ideas, and heroes’ achievements to overcome these difficult times.

“Let the anniversary of October 28, 1940 become a catalyst to overcome this crisis too as we have done so many times in the past. Remember the patriotism, self-denial, enthusiasm, faith, and above all the power of will and unity taught by our ancestors, both in 1940 and several moments of our history” concluded the USA Region Coordinator.
