New York Comic Con 2011 and the Greeks

The New York Comic Con opened this year at the Javits Center from Oct 13-16.

Compared to last year, there was an additional day added to the excitement of all comic and anime enthusiasts.

This year, hardcore attendees had really step up their creative ideas for their self made costumes, ranging from Wonder Woman to Super Mario, and Samurai warriors to Jedi Knights.

At the comic enthusiasts event, we couldn’t miss the Greek comic representatives.

We met with Terry Dougas from 1821 Comics at booth 1458, focusing on Stan Lee’s graphic novel “Romeo and Juliet: The War” available on November 30th for $19.99 (soft cover) and $29.99 for the hardcover collector’s edition.

We’ve also met with Longbow Games, a video game company located in Canada which presented their Greek game “Hegemony: Wars of Ancient Greece”, very interesting game were the player can choose a campaign with Athens or Sparta during the Peloponnesian War or choose the Macedonian Kingdom with King Philip.

Today we visited the booth of the movie “Immortals”, and enjoyed the original artwork from the pre-production and met with the graphic artists. Immortals is a movie written by the Greek-American brothers Vlass and Charles Parlapanides.

We’ve also stopped by Stephen King’s booth and met with some of the artists of the comic book
“The Dark Tower” , in which the well known Greek letterer Chris Eliopoulos worked for all the lettering in the comic series.
