Greeks Win Awards in Human Rights Logo Contest

Two designers from Greece, Nicolaos Macrogamvrakis and Dimitris Sgouros secured 3rd and 10th place among 15,396 other participants in the International Human Rights Logo Contest.

The competition started on the 3rd of May 2011 under the initiative of the following countries:Bosnia and Herzegovina, Canada, Chile, the Czech Republic, Mauritius, Senegal, Singapore and Uruguay aiming to promote in this way human rights.

190 designers from all over the world took part in the competition. The ten best designs, were selected by eminent persons, such as Foreign Ministers of the organizing countries, Nobel Prize winners (Jimmy Carter, Michail Gorbačëv, Aung San were among them), human rights activists, and artists. Then, an open online voting system was established to determine the winner.

The awards ceremony and the logo presentation was held within the 66th United Nations General Assembly in New York.

Predrag Štakić from Serbia has been honored in New York as the winner of the global competition to find a human rights logo.
