Greek Culture Awards at University of Illinois at Urbana

The Modern Greek Studies Program at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign will honor recipients of the Houston-Papadimitriou Greek Culture awards with a special award ceremony on Saturday, September 10. Additionally, they will honor four recipients of the 2010 Pan Hellenic Scholarship Award that attend the UIUC campus.

The award ceremony will include an overview of the year’s activities in Modern Greek Studies, an address by the Dean of Education Professor Mary Kalantzis about collaborating with higher education institutions in Greece, and a salute by the Chairman of the PanHellenic Scholarship Foundation, Chris Tomaras.

Established in 2009, the Houston and Papadimitriou Greek Culture Awards are bestowed upon undergraduate students in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign who have a demonstrated interest in and who are taking elective courses to learn about Greek culture, language or history.
