Pancretan Association of America Meets with Local Authorities in Crete

The new administration of the Pancretan Association of America (PAA), had a series of constructive meetings with local authorities in Crete, aiming to promote the island abroad and attract investments.

The delegation of Cretan – Americans headed by PAA President, Mr. Giannis Manos, met the Regional Governor of Crete, Mr. Stavros Arnaoutakis last week to investigate the development of joint actions for the promotion of Cretan products and services, Cretan nutrition and actions regarding research, educational and cultural programs.

During the meeting, it was jointly decided that the Region will host twenty American journalists in the near future, repeating the successful initiative of the PAA from July 2009.

The meeting was attended by the Deputy Regional Governor of Rethymno, Mary Lioni, Thematic Deputy Regional Governors, Theano Vrentzou and Costas Lambrinos and the General Director of the Region, Maria Damianaki.

The same day, the PAA delegation was received by Archbishop Irineos of Crete. The PAA honored the Archbishop for his contribution in organizing the exhibition “The Origins of El Greco.

The President of the Pancretan also had a private meeting on Thursday with the Mayor of Rethymno, Mr. Giorgis Marinakis, to discuss ways to promote the broader region in the United States and the course of development of the Minoan Village in Atsipopoulo, which will form a great investment for the region.
